SJU believes in the holistic development of students, and sports and games are integral elements of this training. The Institution has played a proactive and supportive role in encouraging sports through the years, producing many great sportspersons of whom many visited the campus as chief guests to flag off the sports day. The Institution is also sensitive to the special needs of sportspersons.

 

We have facilities for sports ranging from Badminton, Athletics, Hockey, Cricket, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Throwball and a number of intramural events. Indoor games, such as Chess, Carrom and Table Tennis are also played on campus. We take pride in the involvement of a significant number of our students in a wide range of sports and games beyond the familiar, extending into American Football, Fencing, Netball, Archery and traditional games such as Kabbadi and Kho- Kho.

 

There are well qualified sports faculty with a Director of Physical Education, a full-time sports assistant, assisted by two other staff members. Coaches for various team games are made available by the Department of Physical Education.

 

Inter Class 
 

It is conducted to build team spirit among the students. UG and PG students are given equal opportunity to participate and win in various games and events. The games conducted are Basket Ball, Carrom, Chess, Cricket, Foot Ball, Kabaddi, Shuttle Badminton, Throw Ball and Volleyball.
