TERMS AND CONDITIONS

 

1. I have read and understood the guidelines for admission, eligibility criteria, and entrance test details (if applicable), including the fee structure for the programme that I have applied for.

2. I also declare that all the details provided in my application form are true, complete and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief. In case any of the above information is found to be false or untrue or misleading or misrepresenting, I am aware that my admission is liable to be rejected.

3. I hereby agree that meeting the eligibility criteria rests solely with me. If I am found ineligible as per the eligibility criteria, I can be asked to leave the Institution at any time until my eligibility and admission are confirmed.

4. I also understand that the application fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

5. St Joseph’s University, Bengaluru (henceforth SJU), provides the facility of online applications for admission through the Internet. SJU’s rules and regulations apply to all such transactions, along with special conditions imposed for internet-based applications.

6. For any international transaction, 3.5% additional charges are applicable, not mandatorily by SJU.

7. The following terms and conditions will apply if you wish to use the SJU online application service. Please go through the conditions carefully (Kindly go through the conditions mentioned on the terms and conditions of the website www.sju.edu.in before availing of the online services), and if you accept them, you are deemed to have agreed to the terms and conditions set forth below. If you do not agree with all these terms and conditions, you must not transact on this website.

7.1. A printed version of this agreement and any notice given in electronic form shall be admissible in judicial or administrative proceedings based upon or relating to this agreement to the same extent and subject to the same conditions as other business documents and records originally generated and maintained in printed form. This agreement is made between SJU (“Us”) and The User (“You”), the individual/student, whose details will be entered in the application form.

7.2. Scope of Service: SJU makes no guarantee that any service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free.

7.3. RULES GOVERNING THE APPLICATION OF CANDIDATES TO SJU THROUGH THE INTERNET:

  • All rules and regulations applicable for the admission procedure to SJU will also apply to the Online Application through the Internet.
  • Candidates shall be chosen by the admission committee of SJU, as per existing regulations and norms of SJU.
  • Confirmation of Submission on Application and Payment: Your application will be
    confirmed online after you fill out the Online Application Form and make payment successfully.
    Further, the system will issue you a unique Transaction ID [MC1] for future reference. We accept application fees in various modes, including credit/ debit cards through the payment gateway. The choice of Payment Mode lies with you. If any one of the modes is not functioning, please try the other one available.
  • Processing of the application is subject to the realisation of payment and the service charges (including Service Tax) from the concerned Bank through the Payment Gateway. You will be responsible for all charges, fees, duties, taxes and assessments arising from your use of this website.
  • After pressing the “Pay” button, if the “Payment processing output page” is not displayed on your monitor due to power failure or internet link failure, you are also advised to contact SJU at admission@sju.edu.in or contact us between 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday – Friday at 080 22211429 

 

7.4. YOUR OBLIGATIONS

  • General Obligations: You shall access our website only for lawful purposes, and you shall be responsible for complying with all applicable laws, statutes and regulations in connection with the use of our website.
  • Information Provided: The information you provide on the application page must be complete and accurate. SJU reserves the right at all times to disclose any information as SJU deems necessary to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or Governmental request.
  • Non-authorisation of payment more than once by the payment gateway for the processing fee paid by you is liable to result in the deregistration of your account with this website without any notice.
  • Applicant Responsibility: You confirm to us that you are 18 years of age or above and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement with us and that all information you provide in respect of your use of the service is true and accurate to the best of your knowledge and belief. You are responsible for the security of your password and all transactions undertaken using your password through our service. You confirm that you are the authorised holder of the credit card or the original account holder used in the transactions you make using the site, and you alone use the ID and password. SJU will not be responsible for any financial loss, inconvenience or mental agony resulting from the misuse of your ID/password/credit card number/account details number for payment for the application fee on this site. For any applicant who is under the age of 18, the aforementioned aspects will be the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian.
  • Limitation of Liability: SJU shall not be liable to you, say as expressly provided for in these terms and conditions and shall have no other obligations, duties or liabilities whatsoever in contract, tort or otherwise arising from the use of the service or connection to the website.
  • Accuracy of Information: We shall use reasonable endeavours to check the accuracy of the information published on this website. We give no warranty as to the accuracy of such information given on our website and reserve the right to amend and vary the contents of this website from time to time without notice. The SJU Sites/Services may contain links to third-party websites.
  • The Linked Sites are not under the control of SJU, and SJU is not responsible for the contents of any Linked Site, including, without limitation, any link contained in a Linked Site, or any changes or updates to a Linked Site.
  • Exclusion of Liability: We shall not be liable to you for any of the following types of loss or damage arising out of your use of our website and the service, whether in contract or tort (including any liability for negligence howsoever arising out of or in connection with the performance of our obligations in the provision of the website and this service):

i. Loss of revenue, business, anticipated savings or profits;

ii. Any indirect or consequential loss howsoever arising.

  • Force Majeure: We shall not be liable to you in respect of any delay in performance of these terms and conditions or delay in performance or breach of the terms and conditions due to any event or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
  • Disclaimer: SJU is not responsible for the wrong application due to incorrect details furnished by the user.
  • Refund and Cancellation Policy: After the transaction has been done successfully on the SJU website, no request for refund or cancellation will be entertained.
  • Regarding fee refund, the institution will follow UGC Notification- “Remittance and Refund of Fees and Other Student-centric Issues”, December 2016. Cancellation of admission must be processed in person and in writing, along with all the original receipts received from the university. Admission to a particular programme will be confirmed only after submission of the relevant documents required for admission within the time stipulated in the letter of undertaking submitted by the candidate at the time of admission.

7.5. RAGGING: The definition of ragging and the penalty of ragging under the Karnataka Education Act 1983 (Karnataka Act No.1 of 1995) Section 2(29) and the Order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. Ragging is a criminal offence. I will face disciplinary action/legal proceedings as mentioned in the UGC Regulations, including cancellation of my admission/debarring from examinations, valuation and assessment process/expulsion from the University if I am found guilty of ragging in any form or aspect.

 

Please note: In case the applicant is a minor, the Terms and Conditions for payment transactions will be binding on the authorised Credit/Debit Card holder who conducts the transaction. All terms and conditions and the undertaking shall be binding on the applicant/parent/guardian.

 

7.6. UNDERTAKING

  • I hereby declare that all the information furnished is correct and authentic. My admission is liable for cancellation without reimbursement of fees in case of any false representation.
  • I hereby undertake that I will adhere to the following conditions, failing which the Vice-Chancellor has the right to impede me from taking the End Semester Examination conducted by the University and as well as I will have to repeat the whole semester on the next available chance before I am promoted to the next semester/year.
    • I will put in a minimum of 75% attendance in each course (subject).
    • I will secure at least 40% marks in all the Examinations conducted by the University.
    • I will abide by all the rules and regulations of the University.
    • I will put in 60 hours of Outreach Programme/Extension Activity (40 hours for PG students), which is mandatory to obtain a degree from the Institution.
    • I will complete all the programme/course completion requirements as mentioned in the Student Handbook.

Once you have clicked the ‘Accept’ button of these Terms and Conditions, you have entered into a formal agreement with SJU for the purpose of transactions on this website and abide by the terms and conditions along with the undertaking.

7.7. GUIDELINES TO BE FOLLOWED WHILE FILLING OUT AN APPLICATION

  • Student Name and Date of Birth should be entered as per the 10th Marks Card only (for Indian students) and as per official records only (for foreign nationals).
  • A scanned copy of your recently taken passport size (35mm X 45mm or 98px X 128px) colour photograph (formal attire) with a white background and less than 200 kb (mm=millimetre; Px=Pixels) in jpg/jpeg format is to be uploaded. The photo should not be blurred or defaced. Selfies and cropped images are not acceptable. Remember, the same photograph will be reflected in all our documents.
  • Mention only your own valid Email ID and Mobile Number. For the definition of domicile, please refer to Karnataka GOV http://kea.kar.nic.in/cet2014/hk_go_format.pdf
  • If your religion is catholic, you need to identify as laity/priest/brother or nun. All laity are to produce the latest baptism certificate or a letter from the parish priest. If you indicate SC, ST, category Group I, II A, II B, III A, III B, a valid certificate should be produced at the time of document verification.   • If the institution that you last studied is in an urban area, indicate it as ‘urban’, else ‘non-urban’.
  • Please indicate your Aadhaar number if you have one.
  • Mention the disability if any and the percentage of disability and produce a valid Certificate.

  • Marks details should be entered carefully. The candidate is liable to lose his/her seat if any discrepancy is found between the marks entered in the application form and those in the marks card.
  • Check the boxes to indicate the core subjects. At the time of application, if your qualifying exam results are not declared, you can still submit the application form. You will have the option to update the marks after you obtain your qualifying exam results.
  • Postgraduate applicants who are from a university with an annual system may choose a year-wise format to enter the marks. The others may choose semester-wise. Postgraduate applicants will have to indicate their cognate subject while entering the marks. If a student is applying for MSc Chemistry, then the cognate subject is Chemistry in his/her BSc programme. Some programmes do not have a cognate subject such as MSW. In such cases, please indicate one of the best core subjects as a cognate subject.
  • Please read the eligibility criteria for further information on this.
    The application fee is ₹800 for undergraduate programmes and ₹1000 for postgraduate programmes. For the programmes with entrance tests, an additional ₹200 is charged. The application fee is not refundable under any circumstances. The programmes with entrance tests for admission are specified. Request for a change of date/time/venue/mode of test will not be entertained. No request for TA/DA or accommodation will be entertained. Failure to attend the entrance test is considered as “not selected”.
  • You can either pay online using a credit card/debit card or use the South Indian Bank fee challan method wherein you can print out the challan and pay the fee in any of the South Indian Bank branches in India.
  • In the case of NRI, PIO, OCI, and Foreign Nationals who do not have a valid Debit Card/Credit Card issued by Registered Indian Banks, they can pay the application processing fee online made in favour of The Vice-Chancellor, St Joseph’s University, payable at Bengaluru. The application fee, entrance test fee, and application processing fee are non-refundable.
  • Interviews for those programmes with entrance tests will be conducted on the notified day. Please check the website for the date, mode, and patterns of the entrance tests. The selected candidates will be notified by email and SMS of the date of the interview. You are advised to check your inbox/spam folder regularly for any communication from the University authorities regarding admission.
  • Once the final interview is over, students must pay their programme fees within 24 hours, and the mode of payment must be any one of the aforementioned methods.
  • Admission to the University is provisional until the student submits all the original marks cards, transfer certificate, migration certificate*, and provisional degree certificate** to the office for verification. This is normally done in the month of July for UG students and September for PG students. If the candidate is found ineligible as per the eligibility criteria, the admission stands cancelled, and fees will not be refunded under any circumstances. (*Migration certificate: For those applicants who have completed 12th from outside Karnataka or those students who have done their degree in a university other than Bangalore University.

** For postgraduate students only).

  • Admission for a particular programme/course closes as and when seats get filled up. Therefore, no last date of admission is announced.
  • The admission committee's decision, St Joseph’s University, Bengaluru, will be final and binding in all matters concerning admission.
  • The University does not accept capitation/donations for admissions. In case such a demand is made by anyone, in writing you are requested to bring it to the notice of the Vice-Chancellor or the Finance Officer, St Joseph's University, 36, Lalbagh Road, Bengaluru-560027, Karnataka, India.
