The Department of Management, under the School of Business, has been training and developing future entrepreneurs since the year 2019. The Department has two major programmes namely the regular BBA programme and BBA Strategic Finance, a programme embedded with Certified Management Accountant (CMA) programme. The Department has ensured an industry-driven and updated syllabus that constantly evolves according to the present needs of the market. The faculty comprises well-qualified experts in various fields, working on various research projects to further their knowledge about the world of Business.
The Department believes in holistic development and encourages our students to take part in various institution-level and department-level activities as well as participate in intercollegiate events. An association unique to the Department, the ‘Business Association’ conducts fests and competitions for the students to upskill them with practical approaches to problem-solving. Students are also encouraged to take part in various social service activities; they are taught to work towards the upliftment of society, working as men and women for others.
Guest lecturers and interactions with entrepreneurs and known leaders are conducted by the Department to give students a more in-depth look at the practical working of the different sectors of Industries. Students are also taken on study tours and industrial visits to bring out in them the spirit of innovation and invention, through a close-up look at the production, and running of business organisations. The Department continuously strives towards creating better leaders and future agents of change.
What makes the School of Business at St Joseph’s University different from others? The world today is changing at such an accelerated rate and we as educators need to pause and reflect on this entire system of education. Are our institutions well equipped to prepare our students to face the challenges that the future holds? Questions such as these are factors that motivate us to go through a continuous process of reflection and hence we at the School of Business work at implementing a well-balanced curriculum to ensure that the students who walk into the portals of our University will not just love their student life but truly be prepared to face life’s challenges. Since its inception, the School has not only focused on the academic excellence of its students but also has nurtured their potential by providing holistic education.
In order to equip the students to assume diverse roles in the corporate world, the pedagogy adopted by the School comprises games, role plays, quizzes, industrial visits, and group exercises in addition to lectures, seminars, and case methods. The School also arranges interaction with industry/business executives, management consultants, leaders from NGOs and civil societies, and reputed academicians for the benefit of students to impart practical orientation. Students are evaluated through continuous internal components of class tests, presentations and assignments, and the end term exams. Students are trained to think creatively and to develop the right mindset to meet the challenges of the globalised business environment, through value-based education, interpersonal relations, and outreach programmes.
I welcome the aspiring youth to join the Josephite family and become agents of change to serve the ever-changing global needs in the field of commerce and society at large.
