About the Programme

The MSc Big Data Analytics programme is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and practical skills required to manage, process, and analyze large-scale data for real-world decision making. The curriculum emphasizes Data Engineering, Advanced Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence, enabling students to build end-to-end data pipelines, work with distributed computing frameworks, and derive meaningful insights from complex datasets. With a strong focus on hands-on learning, students engage in mini-projects and industry-based case studies that address real-world challenges across domains such as healthcare, finance, retail, and smart systems. The programme also promotes research-oriented learning, encouraging students to undertake research projects, develop innovative solutions, and publish research papers in conferences. Additionally, the curriculum integrates industry-focused tools and technologies, including big data platforms, cloud computing, machine learning, and data visualization, ensuring students gain practical exposure aligned with current industry requirements. Through continuous mentoring, internship opportunities, and placement-focused training, the programme aims to mould students into industry-ready professionals.

Programme Details

The focus areas of this programme are mathematical foundation, statistical and machine learning theories for analytics, engineering aspects of analysing huge volumes of data and application of analytics in functional areas.

Admission & Selection Process

Admission Process : The applicants must fill in complete information on the online application form and upload all required certificates (whatever is available) and photos.

Selection Process : The shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. There are two rounds in the interview. Once the final interview is over, candidates have to pay their programme fee within 3 days and the mode of payment must be online. The dates of the interview will be communicated to the shortlisted candidates and will be announced on the website.

Eligibility

  1. Graduates who have studied mathematics/Basic mathematics/Business Mathematics or statistics or Computer Science as cognate subjects and secured 40% in the cognate subject and 50% marks in aggregate of all optional subjects at the degree level or BCA with Mathematics up to +2 or BE/BTech are eligible. Candidates appearing for the final semester undergraduate examinations in AprilMay 2026 may apply with the marks of all the previous semesters.
  2. General: Candidates who have passed the three-year Bachelor’s Degree examination of Bangalore University or any other University considered equivalent thereto by the Government of Karnataka, with the respective subject as optional/major/special/main subject, are eligible for admission to the programme provided they have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate of all the subjects (including English and Languages) and 40% marks in the cognate subject or major subject. Note: SC/ ST/ Category I candidates having 5% marks less than that mentioned above are also eligible to apply.
  3. Postgraduate applicants will have to indicate their cognate subject while entering the marks. For example, if a student is applying for MSc Chemistry, then the cognate subject is Chemistry in his/her BSc programme. There are some programmes that do not have a cognate subject such as MSW. In such cases, please indicate one of the best core subjects as a cognate subject

  • Please note: if admitted, the fee must be paid in full within the time prescribed in the Admit Intimation.
  • To claim the Karnataka category fee, the candidates should have studied the last 7 years in Karnataka. [Not applicable for OCI (Overseas Citizens of India), PIO (Person of Indian Origin), and Foreign Nationals].

NRI fee is applicable for the full duration of the Programme for candidates who:

  • Have pursued and completed their last qualifying exam from outside India.
  • NRI and candidates who have applied under the NRI category.
The Management / University does not collect any type of Capitation fees / Donation other than the fees mentioned above.

Documents Required

Selected candidates must first update the following documents on their admission portal before the interview. The admitted students must submit the original documents at the Admin Office:
  • Class 10th Certificate (High School) and Marks Card
  • Class 11th Certificate and Marks Card
  • Class 12th Certificate (Senior Secondary School) and Marks Card
  • Undergraduate Marks Cards and Convocation Certificate
  • Transfer Certificate from last qualified institution
  • Migration Certificate if the candidate is outside Karnataka state
  • Two passport-size photographs and one stamp-size photograph in formal dress with a white background
  • Two Photocopies of the Online Payment Receipt
  • Valid ID proof such as Aadhaar Card / PAN Card / Voter ID Card
Candidates belonging to any of these categories -PIO / OCI / SAARC / FOREIGN NATIONALS-must submit the following documents:
  • Photocopy of Passport and Visa Details
  • Copy of PIO / OCI card (whichever is applicable and available at the time of admission)
  • Certificate of Medical Fitness from an approved medical practitioner accredited by the Medical Council of India
  • Resident Permit (If available)
