Dear Students,
We are happy to present the Global Citizenship Curriculum Project, an initiative of the Task Force on Global Citizenship of the International Association of Jesuit Universities (IAJU). The Global Citizenship Fellows Program first took place in the 2021-2022 academic year, with online dialogues culminating in an in-person meeting in Boston, Massachusetts, in August 2022 on the occasion of the IAJU assembly. The second iteration of the program took place during spring 2024 semester and concluded with an in-person study tour in Rome, Italy, in June. In 2025, a group of fellows joined the IAJU Assembly in Bogotá, Colombia.
The Global Citizenship Curriculum Project connects students and faculty across the Jesuit network of some 180 colleges and universities worldwide through a shared Global Citizenship Course Module. The course module is a set of four online lectures (about 20 minutes each) and accompanying readings (about 20 pages each). The lectures address 1) global citizenship as a mindset and practice; 2) contemporary challenges and opportunities; 3) global citizenship and care for our common home; and 4) Jesuit universities and global citizenship. Students taking classes with the course module will participate in a 90-minute global student dialogue on Zoom with peers around the world to discuss global citizenship.
Who Can Participate
- All students of a Jesuit Institution across the world are eligible.
- Participation in the project is free and voluntary.
- Students participating in the Global Citizenship Curriculum Project are eligible to apply for the Global Citizenship Fellows Program, which will bring 12-15 students from around the world for an in-person dialogue and week-long world study tour envisioned twice a year. To date, study tours have taken place in Boston (USA), Rome (Italy), and Bogotá (Colombia).
- The world study tour is completely sponsored by the organizers.
